About this speaker
Maryrose Wood is best known as the author of The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, an acclaimed children's book series featuring a teenaged governess and three children raised by wolves, published by Balzer+Bray, HarperCollins Children's Books. Titles in this six-book series have earned Junior Library Guild selections and received starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, School Library Journal, and Booklist. They've also made it onto Best Children's Books of the Year lists from NPR, Christian Science Monitor, and others, and are published in translation worldwide. Her latest book, Alice's Farm: A Rabbit's Tale, was released in September 2020 from Feiwel & Friends at Macmillan. The New York Times called this tale of an exceptional wild rabbit who teams up with her natural predators, a dog, and a homesick Brooklyn boy to save their shared farmland home "delightful and quirky and full of good will... necessary for some kids right now."
In 2019, Maryrose founded Path of the Storyteller, an online program that trains and mentors dedicated writers ready to write at a professional level. You can find more information at www.pathofthestoryteller.com. Originally a native New Yorker who began her career in the theatre, Maryrose now resides in sunny Southern California, not far from the beach. She has two grown children, two cats, and is currently working on something new.
